Official Opening of CAFS![]() Minister Jimmy Deenihan (Centre-Minister for Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht) Dr Charolette Damm(Far Left-Head of Archaeology at NUIG) and Dr Michelle Comber(Far Right-Archaeological Director at Caherconnell) with John & Breda Davoren attending the opening of CAFS Minister Jimmy Deenihan, officially opened the first international archaeological field school in the Burren in county Clare in July 2012 . Caherconnell ArchaeologicalField School has been providing third level courses to students from around the globe since2010. Following the granting of accreditation by the National University of Ireland in Galway (NUIG), students attending the field school can now gain academic credit for their course in their home universities. Opening the Field School, Mr Deenihan – Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, praised the ongoing archaeological work at the school saying it is one of the best Leader funded projects I have seen in the country. Minister Deenihan, a strong supporter of rural development initiatives, complimented the professionalism of the ongoing work here at Caherconnell and praised the co-operation between the local community and NUIG..
